MyChild, My Teacher: Journal Entry to My First Son, Ben - October, 2000..
Jesus God, I praise you and thank you for the gifts of today! Being able to stay home with Ben - such a joy he is - such a gfit! Through Him, I am learning. I am appreciating the miracle of life so much more - in such a profound way.
To see you - my child- laugh, giggle, grow and delight in life - in the simplest of things: clinking a handle on the edge of a coffee table, crawling up a stair, flicking on a light, studying a leaf, feeling the tickle of a comb across your head, picking up a ball, smiling. You delight in utter amazement at things that I pass by daily without a thought. Yet by your delight and insistent pause at these simple joys, I am learning to praise and delight in them as well. Thank you for teaching me to find joy and amazement in these simple, small daily pleasures. Thank you for beckoning me to notice these and to delight in them as well. Thank you for being my teacher, too, my child. Thank you!
"For whoever receives one child such as this in my name, receives me/and whoever receives me, receives not me but the One who sent me." Mark 9: 30-37.
